Minutes - Mater Dei Council No. 8059 Regular Meeting
Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:00 p.m.

The minutes from the February 2007 meeting was read and adopted with changes.

Motion was made and passed to accept the Transfer Application of Bryant Emmerson.

Applications were dropped for Ben McClain and Daniel Blade.

There was discussion in regards to the Knights of Columbus Founders Day. Council #8059 will celebrate Founders Day by presenting Father Hullinger and Father Rossiter a certificate at the 10:30 am Mass on March 25, 2007. A reception is planned for 12:00pm to 1:00 pm and will serve cake, punch and coffee.

Financial Secretary Report:

No money to due to Supreme of the month of March.

The council will still need to recruit 5 new members and sign up 3 brothers for insurance.

The council still has members who still have not paid their membership dues for 2007.

The Intent to Suspend letter for members who have not paid their membership dues was sent out a month too early.

Youth Director Report:

Essay Contest is still in progress.

Unfinished Business:

There was discussion about the K of C sponsoring a Seminarian. A motion was passed to financially sponsor a Seminarian.

The K of C Bowling Tournament was conducted on March 24, 2007 at the Westridge Bowling Lanes in Topeka. The K of C made a small profit.

Medford Shively was presented with the Lifetime Award by the K of C.

Membership Blitz will be conducted at all masses on March 25, 2007.

There was a declination for Knight of the Year and Family of the Year for Council #8059. Therefore, the Knight of the Year is Michael McGuire and the Family of the Year

is Bill and Brenda Simons.

New Business:

There was some discussion about hosting a Communal Breakfast at the Assumption Church on June 10, 2007. The discussion was tabled for the April 2007 meeting

A motion was passed to present Father Chantos with a gift card to Barnes and Noble.

4^TH Degree Report:

A 4^th Degree Exemplification will be conducted on June 16, 2007 at Christ the King Church in Topeka. The deadline to submit applications will be May 1, 2007.
