February 2007 K of C #8059 MTG

Meeting was called to order by the Grand Knight at 7:00 p.m.

The minutes from the January 2007 meeting was read and adopted with changes.

There was discussion about conducting a Membership Blitz to recruit new members.

The council discussed a letter that was sent to the council by the State Membership Director about forming a “Round Table” with Washburn University.

Financial Secretary Report:

No money to due to Supreme of the month of February.

Brother Knight Kevin Schmitt had an address change.

February 1, 2007, a letter was sent out to Brother Knights who have not paid their membership dues for 2007.

March 1, 2007, Intent to Suspend letter will be sent to Brother Knights who have not paid their membership dues for 2007.

Services Program Report:

Youth Director Report:

The Essay Contest is in progress. The winners will be given an award at their 8^th Grade Graduation.

District K of C Free Throw Contest was conducted on February 4, 2007.

Unfinished Business:

A motion was made, seconded and passed to purchase 250 car magnets.

The K of C Bowling Tournament is scheduled for March 24, 2007 at the Westridge Bowling Lanes in Topeka. The following brothers have volunteered their time to help work the tournament:

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Clem Crawford / Michael McGuire

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Norm Koester / Merlin Wilson

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Kyle Meade / Darwin Nichols

Membership Blitz was tabled until the March 2007 meeting.

There was discussion about sponsoring a “Lenten Supper” during the 2007 Lenten season. A motion was passed to co-sponsor a dinner with the Alter Guild on March 9, 2007. The menu will include pancakes, eggs, fruit and a drink. The cost will be $4.00 a person.

The council discussed sponsoring a “Texas Hold em Night” as a fund raiser. A decision was made to table the discussion until the March 2007 meeting.

K of C Founders Day (last Sunday in March) will be celebrated on March 29, 2007. The council will be giving awards to Fr. Hullinger and Fr. Rossiter at the 10:30 am Mass.

4^TH Degree Report:

A 4^th Degree Exemplification will be conducted on June 16, 2007 at Christ the King Church in Topeka.

Grand Knight’s Report:

Portraits of Pope Benedict XVI, Fr. McGivney and the President of the K of C can be purchase for $20.00 a portrait.

Fr. Hullinger is wanting to join the 4^th Degree K of C. Council #8059 will pay for any fees associated with his application.
